August 22, 2017 Noon-2 PM Room 113 Land and Water Building
The Penn State Sustainability Institute, Institute for Energy and the Environment and Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Office are jointly hosting a discussion of opportunities for U.S-China collaborations on research on the food-energy-water (FEW) nexus, urban sustainability, global change, and manufacturing. A target for this discussion is the identification of teaming opportunities around topics of interest announced in NSF 17-099 Dear Colleague Letter focused on:
"Innovations at the Nexus of Food, Energy, and Water Systems (INFEWS: U.S.-China)"
1. Quantitative and computational modeling of a FEW system
2. Innovative human and technological solutions to critical FEW systems problems.
Interested applicants must have a partner in China who will submit a companion proposal to the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). The goal for this discussion is to facilitate teaming of opportunities between partners with relevant research interests and the appropriate in-country connection.
Participants are invited to register to attend at this link:
Registrants who wish to present information on an existing U.S.-China relationship or research expertise related to the NSF 17-099 Letter, are invited to request a 5 minute slot on the discussion agenda by sending an email to Lorraine Mulfinger at lxm14@psu.edu.
On-line registration is encouraged prior to August 21, 2017 after which on-site registrations will be welcomed.
