Penn State's Institute for CyberScience (ICS) is now accepting proposals for the 2017 ICS Seed Grant Program. The grant program will support ambitious computation-enabled and data-enabled research projects aimed at addressing critical problems in science and engineering.
Proposals must be submitted by 5:00pm on January 17, 2017.
Full details about the ICS Seed Funding Initiative and instructions for submitting a proposal can be found on the ICS website at https://ics.psu.edu/seed-grant. The purpose of the ICS Seed Grant Program is to provide start-up funds for interdisciplinary faculty groups seeking to pursue larger awards from external granting agencies. The ICS is especially interested in providing funding for projects that involve collaborative, interdisciplinary efforts that align with the theme of “Driving Digital Innovation.” Priority will be given to research projects that have a clearly outlined pathway for leveraging additional funding from external sources, as well as to projects involving new collaborations between researchers in different departments and colleges.
Proposals will be assessed both by faculty members with expertise in the proposed projects’ subject areas and by a panel of ICS leadership, who will select projects for funding. The ICS anticipates that selected projects will be funded for one year, with budgets of up to $25,000 per year.
Investigators are welcome to interact with ICS leadership as they develop their proposal projects/concepts. Please send any inquiries to ICS Associate Director Guido Cervone at ics-seed-grants@ics.psu.edu.
