PRI associate and associate professor of education Paul Morgan was the lead author of the most popular journal article published by the American Educational Research Association (AERA) in 2015.
The article, “Minorities Are Disproportionately Underrepresented in Special Education: Longitudinal Evidence Across Five Disability Conditions”, describes the study that found racial, ethnic, and language minority students in elementary and middle school are less likely than otherwise similar white, native-English-speaking children to be identified as having disabilities and, as a result, are disproportionately underrepresented in special education.
The paper was published in the June/July 2015 issue of “Educational Researcher”, one of seven peer-reviewed journals published by AERA.
