Research Penn State 2016 is a two-day event providing a glimpse into the diverse research capabilities across five university-wide themes: materials science, cyber science, energy and the environment, social science, and the life sciences. At Penn State these themes are represented through broad-based institutes that cross the disciplinary boundaries of colleges and departments and are organized under the Office of the Vice President for Research.
This event encompasses and expands the Materials Research Institute’s annual Materials Day, and is a prelude to Invent Penn State, the new entrepreneurial initiative that kicks off as Research Penn State 2016 draws to a close. Materials Day will return as usual in fall 2017.
This year’s event will feature speakers on each broad-based theme, focusing on coping and competing with change in its many forms. An expanded poster session with more than 200 interactive posters will highlight Penn State’s broad research expertise, and tutorials will introduce the institutes’ varied insights around the theme of rapid change. Register with your abstract by August 31. See also event website for more information.
