Guangqing Chi, associate professor of rural sociology and demography and director of the Computational and Spatial Analysis Core in the Social Science Research Institute at Penn State, will be conducting a spatial and computational analysis workshop for faculty on December 14, 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the Bennett Pierce Living Center, 110 Henderson Building.
The workshop will include an introduction to spatial analysis techniques, models, and methods; several examples of the use of spatial analysis and statistics methods for social science research; a list of spatial data sources, journals, and books; and discussion about participants’ needs in spatial analysis and statistics.
The workshop is part of the “A Taste of Methodology” series of semi-annual workshops for faculty, with lunch included. The objective is to provide busy faculty with an efficient way to assess a methodological approach’s potential for their research.
The free workshop is being co-sponsored by the Social Science Research Institute and the Methodology Center, and is part of SSRI's Innovative Methods Initiative. It is open to all Ph.D.-level scientists at Penn State, however registration is required and places are limited. For more information or to register, e-mail Tammy Knepp at TLKnepp@psu.edu.
