Suet-ling Pong, former professor of education and sociology and long-time Population Research Institute research associate who passed in 2015 after a brief recurrence of breast cancer, was recently named an Honored Colleague by the Population Association of America.
An “Honor a Colleague” effort was begun last year as a way to personalize a contribution to the PAA Fund in honor of Pong. A list of honorees can be found here.
The PAA Fund uses contributions to support a wide range of PAA activities, including efforts to encourage diversity in the Association’s membership, congressional briefings on relevant demographic topics, activities to educate members of Congress on the importance of demographic data and research, additional articles in Demography, and enabling international scholars to attend the PAA meetings.
