Internal Deadlines:
- September 20, 2011: Two-page description and CVs to OVPR sent to limitedsubs@psu.edu
- October 31, 2011, 12:00 Noon EST: Full proposals due to ORAU
The FY 2012 ORAU/ORNL call for proposals for the High Performance Computing Grant Program is significantly different than in previous years. Proposals must be submitted by an ORAU member institution faculty member in collaboration with an ORNL research staff member listed as a principal investigator on one of the research projects identified in the attached 2012 ORNL Research Project list. Additionally, Due to the business sensitive nature of the ORNL research projects, Penn State researchers interested in pursuing a joint proposal with an ORNL PI may need to enter into a Non-Disclosure Agreement in order to have detailed technical discussions pertaining to specific research projects. If you are asked to complete a Non-Disclosure Agreement, please contact Brenda Brooks (863-0715, bad8@psu.edu) in the Office of Sponsored Programs for assistance.
The grant potential is $75,000 over three years and the plan is to award four new grants, pending availability of funding. The research projects are aligned with ORNL’s major, leadership positions in Neutron Science and Technology, Computational Science and Engineering, Advanced Materials, and Nuclear Science and Engineering. The joint HPC proposals should focus on filling gaps and addressing opportunities in support of the Laboratory’s Science & Technology Laboratory Agenda.
This program is limited to one faculty pre-proposal per institution; therefore we are conducting an internal downselect.
If you have interested faculty in your college, they must submit (via an email to limitedsubs@psu.edu) a two-page description of what is planned for the program and two-page CV’s for the PI and any other senior personnel on the team by September 20, 2011. We anticipate having a decision on the team to move forward with a proposal very soon after this deadline.
