Finding electronic articles from a citation:
- Go to: http://www.libraries.psu.edu/psul/research.html
- On the right side of the page is a link to a resource called Citation Linker.
This will allow you to put in the citation information that you have to determine if the article is available in one of our many databases.
Note: You do not have to fill every field journal title, volume and page number will suffice if that is all the information you have.
Requesting articles and book chapter delivery:
There are many journals that are not available electronically (although the University Libraries may own them in paper) and there are many journals that do not provide electronic access for their older material (w/o a prohibitive fee). However, you can still have the article delivered electronically to your desktop through services provided by the University Libraries.
The best way to get a digital copy is to go through Inter-library loan (ILL). As a faculty member you can request delivery to your electronic bookshelf in ILLIAD with a notification via e-mail.
How to do this?
- Go to: http://www.libraries.psu.edu/psul/ill.html
- Login to ILLIAD.
- On the left side there is a menu for:
- Request Items Not Available at Penn State
- Request Items Owned by Penn State Libraries
Use the form "Request Items Owned by Penn State Libraries" for articles and book chapters of material owned by Penn State. A scanned copy will be made available for you to pick up electronically.
Picking up the article:
You will be notified by e-mail when the article is ready to be picked up from your electronic bookshelf in ILLIAD. You can also track the status of your request through ILLIAD. Please note that there is a time limitation for accessing the article on your electronic book shelf. Consequently, you should not use this electronic shelf as an archive.
