SMaRT Connects, a resource of the Staffing, Mentorship and Research Training (SMaRT) Program, will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Jan. 16 in Lecture Room A with the topic “Successful Strategies for Working with the IRB.” The SMaRT Connects series supports human subjects research professionals through timely College of Medicine research process information, professional development and networking. At each session, attendees will learn the latest tips, techniques, policies and procedures from subject matter experts who facilitate discussion, answer questions and provide guidance.
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) protects the rights and welfare of human subjects involved in research at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine. Courtney Karmelita will discuss ways to avoid the most common errors in IRB submissions and practices. She will explain IRB submission components and how to use the most common submission templates.
