The Directors of both Institutes are keen to identify and strengthen links between the Social and Life Sciences. They seek a new Associate Director who will assume the responsibility for building trans-disciplinary teams that work at the interface of the two disciplines. Examples include prevention of antibiotic abuse, the biological embedding of stress and trauma, and population health, including health disparities and spread of disease. The Associate Director will be a tenured faculty member at Penn State who has knowledge and appreciation of both the social and life sciences and a track record of externally funded research. The Associate Director will be a member of the Executive Committees of both Institutes and will be charged with developing an understanding of the research programs of faculty members in both Institutes toward identifying opportunities for novel interdisciplinary collaborations, such as through seed funding. This will be a fixed term position at 30% time for two years with the possibility of renewal.
